# What SiteHome does

SiteHome is an app for the people who look after a website: owners, editors and the agencies that build websites for them. It connects to the CMS the website already uses, shows its content in fields made for a phone, and changes the website only after someone has reviewed the exact change.

## How it works

1. **Connect.** An administrator connects the website once, with access from the website's own CMS. SiteHome reads which content types the website has and which fields it can safely edit.
2. **Edit, or ask.** Change fields yourself, or tell the AI assistant what should change. Type it or say it; SiteHome prepares the change for you.
3. **Review.** Every change is shown word by word, like tracked changes: struck through goes, underlined comes in. Photos and links too.
4. **Publish.** Nothing reaches the website until you tap publish. Right before that, SiteHome checks that nobody changed the item in the meantime.

## Which CMS

- **WordPress**: an application password of a WordPress user, and the SiteHome plugin to publish. See [Connect a WordPress website](/en/docs/wordpress).
- **Sanity**: one API token and the website's deployed schema. See [Connect a Sanity website](/en/docs/sanity).
- **Payload**: official MCP 3.92.0, the small SiteHome metadata/upload extension and a restricted MCP key. See [Connect a Payload website](/en/docs/payload).

## Where SiteHome runs

- **In the browser** at [app.getsitehome.com](https://app.getsitehome.com), on a phone or a computer.
- **On iPhone**: the app is in a closed beta. [Leave your email address](/en#waitlist) to hear when it is in the App Store.

## Publishing starts switched off

A newly connected website can be read and edited right away. Publishing to the real website stays off until an administrator switches it on in the website's options. Until then, changes can be saved as concepts.
